I loved playing a writers round at the fantastic Listening Room Cafe in Nashville. Huge thanks to Chase for the opportunity and to my fellow writers Scott Wesley, Eric Dylan, Craig Morrison and Chris and Lolly: you guys are great. So much talent! (not in the picture - Craig Morrison). I have a few days left in Nashville :( but I'll be back as soon as possible.
I'm not a big superstar or anything (I hope to be someday), but I was touched by the devastation in Oklahoma. So I decided to release my song "Like A Fighter" on my store to try and raise some funds for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. I wrote Like A Fighter for those times when we feel like giving up, when life just keeps hitting us hard. Listen to the song and if you like it, purchase it for $1 or more (whatever you can give). I will donate all the net proceeds until June 5, 2013 to the relief fund.
I am having a great time in Nashville, Tennessee this Spring. I'm on a songwriting vacation, and I'm meeting lots of wonderful people. I had the opportunity to play some of my songs for Captain Jack and the Renegade Radio Nashville (www.renegaderadionashville.com) at the beautiful Fontanel Mansion site. Captain Jack also invited me to the studio and we had a wonderful chat. On the Air! Thanks Captain Jack and Joyce and everyone at Renegade. Watch for more posts about the show at the Fontanel and the interview in the studio. xoxo, Maddy Rodriguez
I'm spending a few weeks writing vacation in Nashville, TN this month. I arrived a few days ago to participate in the USA Songwriting Competition's Showcase at the Bluebird Cafe. It was a blast. I love the Bluebird, the staff, and the audiences. It's a place where people go to listen to us songwriters and I'm very lucky to have sung there twice in my life already (the first time when I was 16 and I sang at their open mic). Rolling Stone magazine ranked it as #10 in the Top 20 music venues in the United States.
For the next few weeks I will be writing and co-writing new songs, meeting new people and enjoying Music City as much as I can. Tomorrow, Monday, May 13, I will be hanging out with Renegade Radio Nashville's Captain Jack at the Fontanel Mansion, a beautiful place near Nashville. Renegade Radio Nashville is an awesome fast growing online and mobile radio station that plays all kinds of country music and it's also a reporting station (that means that spins on the station count towards various radio charts). I am thrilled to be one of the artists featured on their website and to have been invited to spend time on the air with Captain Jack.
I will try to blog more often while I'm in Nashville and I will also post updates on my Facebook page. Wish me luck.
